Leaving for my city!

We took the train into my city at 9:00am. After registering at the police station, we went to my apartment. I LOVE IT. I am beyond excited about having a place to call my own!

A few things I love about my apartment...
  • REAL hardwood floors
  • a queen sized bed
  • a wide window seal that I am going to find a cushion to put over, so I can sit in the sunshine!
  • good shower pressure
  • my awesome water dispenser that has tiny cups stored in the bottom :D
  • the Western toilet
  • coffee maker/oven/crock pot
  • I live on the 4th floor (=getting into great shape and added security)
Things I am going to have to adjust to:
  • converting Celcius to Ferenheit
  • trying to remember not to drink the faucet water or cook with it
  • taking off my shoes when I come in the door
  • having to line dry all of my clothes (that's right-- no dryer!)
  • nose bleeds (I've had them since I got here..I guess it's the altitude)
  • TP with no hole in the middle of the roll
After I got settled in a bit, we went and met the B family for lunch. They live 6 buildings behind me--thank goodness! We ate noodles for lunch. It was $1.25 for a huge bowl. I think I like rice better than noodles.
After lunch, J and I came back to MY apartment and I finished unpacking my stuff. She showed me how to use the (tiny) washer and the shower.
The shower has no barrier on the ground-- the water just runs all over the floor. This might be good- I won't ever have to mop the floor.
The past couple of hours, I've just been putting things in order and trying to make it feel like home.
